I am due to have my PIP assessment on the 23rd March, (next monday) but I've just read that as from today mo one will be having face to face assessments due to Corona virus. I wondered if anyone knows if this is right?

Hi Jacqui

It is true. You can read about it on the government website.

Hi Guys

My paperwork went in on the 3rd March and I had a letter from DWP saying the pip forms where with capita to decide if a f2f is needed. I know its stressful but lets hope better decisions are made using the paper based route at least then you will have an answer and go down the MR route quicker if needed. I used to get stressed but what's the point you cant change the situation so guys just go with the flow and don't let them win fight fight fight

Hello Mr Frog. The DWP will work towards doing paper assessments through liaison with IAS(ATOS), CAPITA and MAXIMUS. Unless you are told otherwise by any of the three, please make sure you attend unless you are an 'at risk' person.

Better still, contact the HP and ask what their 'current' policy is regarding COVID-19.

My husband and I are in voluntary lock down atm. Be safe, take care and let's hope the DWP and the HP come up with a stringent and workable plan.xx

Tis a pity the virus is indiscriminate and that benefit cheats still bleed our already stretched systems to help others I do however believe in hope.
Xx

My home assessment was for Friday, 20th March but this morning received text confirming cancellation and stating that "you will be contacted shortly to explain the next steps with your assessment. You do not need to contact us"
I await to hear and will update when I have been contacted.

Update from last post. I didn't have to wait long for the phone call. The lady who was to have visited me further explained why the assessment had been cancelled. She introduced herself and said she was a nurse. She explained that given the amount of evidence I had sent (60 pages) some of which was quite old but still relevant, suggested I may well have either a telephone or paper assessment without a f2f being necessary but didn't guarantee that. She agreed that I had long term chronic illnesses. On the phone she came over very nice and understanding but I know I shouldn't read too much into that. From posts on here there are some good assessors as well as bad ones.
