In light of university students being instructed to return to their permanent homes and continuing degrees online with the university, I am wondering how the DWP will treat this. Do I assume that I may lose my SDP as no longer living alone? I think normally distance learning students are classed as part-time, however many hours they study. Could the DWP start counting the students sent home from uni that are now studying online as part-time? I am asking because I may lose my SDP due to no longer living alone, plus my son may need to claim Carers Allowance but if still considered a full-time student I think will not be allowed to??? Any thoughts please?
The rules are defined in law so the DWP has little if any flexibility in how they implement them, all I can suggest is you contact the DWP for their view.
