Pip review deadline extension. was created by jonathang
Hi,
I received my pip review form at beginning of march although it was dated 23rd of Feb and took a week to get to me, they wanted the form filled out and sent back by the 23rd of march.
I called them a week later to ask for an extension to the deadline to give me a chance to see my psychologist and get supporting evidence as well as fill out the form properly.
The lady I spoke to on the helpline was quite difficult but she extended the deadline by 14 days.
However I received a letter in the post today dated march 13th reminding me to send the form back by the origonal march 23rd deadline...... this has got me very worried because this is on monday!
Is it normal for these reminder letters to be sent out even if you get an extension to the deadline?
Sent by an automated system perhaps?
And why are the letters from DWP taking so long to get to me? I'm really anxious about this so any reassurance would be good, I'm going to call first thing Monday to double check the extension has been applied, but this is going to give me a very stressful weekend worrying about it.
Thanks
J

The letter is sent as standard three weeks after the invitation letter. It will have been printed before you requested the extension which is why it does not make any reference to the new date.
DWP letters are printed and posted second class in Belfast which is one of the reasons they take so long to arrive.

Hello Gordon,
I have had a similar situation. I received my PIP review form, dated 31/8/20 on 7/9/20. A deadline to return it and supporting information was given of 30/9/20 leaving little time to get medical evidence because my surgery is only holding phone appointments (closed due to the pandemic to face to face appointments). I phoned the DWP and asked for an extension immediately I received the review form and was granted a 2 week extension by the telephone advisor to 14/10/20. I received a reminder letter dated 19/9/20 on 25/9/20 but with the original deadline of 30/9/20 on it! Why if the reminder letter is sent nearly 3 weeks after the original letter does it give the original deadline date when I was told I was granted a 2 week extension over 10 days in advance of the date the reminder letter was sent out? It did not give the new deadline date when it should have done. I did phone again and check the deadline extension has been noted on my file. I was told by the DWP phone advisor that it had been and that the letter is sent automatically and ignore it. Is that right? I am worried as I still am filling in the review form, have only just got my supporting medical evidence and need the time I was granted. Do they automatically stop your PIP if you don't meet the original deadline, even if they grant you a verbal extension? Just need reassurance.
Thank you.

Ignore the letter, it is a standard letter sent automatically by the DWP systems three weeks after the form, it never includes the date of any extension agreed by the DWP.
You have until the extension date for the DWP to receive your form.
If you need a further extension then contact the DWP again but do so in plenty of time as a second one may need to be agreed by a Decision Maker.
