Just got PIP renewal forms but assessments paused was created by louisemunro
Hi. I’m Appointee for my son. He has a 2 year award which ends mid-October. On Friday (27th March) I got his PIP renewal forms. The letter with them in dated 18th March and the forms need to be returned by 18th April. I’ve read on here that from 24th March a three month hold has been put on assessments. Do I still need to complete the renewal forms? Will the renewal still go ahead at this point? The DWP site has no more information.

Yes, you need to complete the forms, whilst the process itself has been suspended the legislation that controls the process has not been modified and it is still possible to have a claim closed for failing to carry out the required activities
The PIP Helpline is saying that there is now an automatic extension of the time given to return the form but I recommend that you follow the normal procedures for requesting an extension if you need it.

Thanks. Yes I will be contacting the DWP to ask for an extension. I just rang and got the message about the automatic extension - it doesn’t say how long it is... I don’t know what the helpline hours normally are but this morning the message says they are 9am to 5pm due to current circumstances.
