New claim for pip was created by Zelda
I sent my new claim back mid March and have had a text to say they have it. I did ring a couple of weeks ago and they said it was on the system with a lot of supporting evidence. I did ask if it would still be assessed or would I have to wait until after the Coronavirus crisis has ended. I was told it should still be assessed but may take longer than usual. Has anyone been awarded pip with paper review only. I am a completely new claim started on 18th Feb 2020. Many thanks

Our understanding is that all new claims will require assessment but this could be in a number of forms.
They could do a Paper assessment but it is extremely rare for this to be done on a new claim and I doubt this will be significantly different due to the current situation.
They can opt for a telephone assessment, these are being done but not at the level that we expected, so I suspect that a lot of claims are not suitable for this.
Lastly, the Assessment Provider may decide that a face to face is required in which case you are looking at a three month wait at the least.

Thank you for your advice it is looking like nothing will be decided until this Coronavirus crisis is over. I was hoping that it may be sorted on a paper assessment but wasn’t very confident this would happen. At the end of the day there are many people who have no income at the moment so they should be prioritised and I will wait my turn.

I put in my 1st claim for Pip on 27th Dec and sent claim off mid Jan, I never got anything back saying they had it so rang a few weeks back saying it was with medical assessment and I just had to wait to hear from them, she couldn't tell what would happen next as they were a different department
