My partner has a telephone assesment with capita on Thursday He suffers from copd and is very breathless can I answer questions on his behalf if he is struggling. Also does this take the same time as a face to face assesment .He has already changed from dla to pips and was awarded top mobility and standard care for 3 years his condition is much worse but as his gp is not seeing patients at the minute I cannot get additional information. Can they not just use his last face to face report .
From what has been reported on the forum these telephone assessments have been taking around 45-60 minutes.
I would write a bullet list of your partner's issues and keep it next to the phone, it has also been advised to have a glass of water available.
I would start the call by saying that your partner is having problems with their breathing and ask whether you can take over the assessment if necessary, you will have to be guided by the assessor's response.
