Hi Guys
Thank you for the added PIP2 Guide info.re telephone assessments. Re:DLA to PIP transfer – just want to know if I am interpreting the information correctly. Does the procedure now go as follows:
1) Be invited to apply for PIP (from DLA)
2) Be sent PIP1 form to complete with basic details i.e. address, N.I. no, Bank details etc .and return it (or will this now be done over the phone?)
3) Be posted a PIP2 form to complete & return within a 4 week timeframe
4)Complete PIP2 form and return including all supporting medical evidence & other letters (i.e. Family, friends)
5)THEN expect a letter giving 7days notice of ACTUAL TELEPHONE ASSESSMENT date after reading all information sent.
6)If not suitable (i.e. person needed to be with you is unavailable on that date or medical appointment) contact the assessment provider to try and rearrange.
7)Then have the actual telephone assessment when they have your PIP2 form and all additional supporting information with them (and are supposed to have read first).

I think this is correct OR does it mean that they can just phone you out of the blue WITHOUT having the completed PIP2 and additional information?

Sorry to bother you but this is so important and even more stress at a time when – like many -classed as high risk /vulnerable re: Covid 19 and accident combining to exacerbate further chronic pain conditions.
Hope this is correct – please advise. Much appreciated.

You won't be sent a PIP1, the information to complete the form will be captured when you make the call to start your claim.

There are currently automatic extensions for the time to complete the PIP2, the message on the PIP Helpline is saying three months but I would check when you actually receive a PIP2 as the situation might change.

It is not clear at the moment whether all claims will be assessed by either a telephone assessment or a Paper Based Review, it is more than possible that some will still require a face to face assessment and that this will only happen once the current restrictions are relaxed.

If necessary, the DWP will extend an existing award by an initial six months, to allow an assessment and Decision to be made.

Thanks Gordon but does all the other stuff I have written seem correct i.e. WILL ONLY DO A PHONE ASSESSMENT AFTER SCRUTINISING INFORMATION SENT.Otherwise all of the information I have collated and medical letters re: history of condition would not be considered as cannot possibly read out over the phone. Sorry but I just need to be clear in my head about this to stop panicking even more. I really want the written information to be read to see longevity of health issues. Thanks Gordon -sorry to bother you.

Yes, the decision on whether a Paper Based Review, a telephone assessment or a face to face assessment will be done will be after they have reviewed your claim form and the information attached.

Thanks Gordon - 1 final thing - will they still "invite" DLA recipients to apply for PIP by posted letter and how long is the response time allowed? Then presumably they would phone to do a verbal PIP1 info.talk through prior to sending you a PIP2 ?
Thanks - won't bother you on this again.

You will receive a letter telling you that you DLA claim is ending and that you can apply for PIP you will then have 28 days to phone the PIP Claim line when you phone they will complete the PIP1 while you are on the phone.
