will my benefits stop was created by sonnyboyo
i am 59 married with 2 children aged 14 and 11 currently i receive contrebutory ESA and PIP my partner works 36hrs per week and this week our relationship broke down and my partner has left leaving me with the children . I have done a online claim for Universal Credit and i am wanting to know if my current benefits of ESA and PIP will be effected or stopped

It may be too late if you have already made a claim for UC but I would check whether you would be better off adding Income Related ESA to your existing award, put your information into one of the online benefit calculators.

If you stay on UC then neither your ESA(CB) or PIP will be affected, however, the ESA (not the PIP) will be treated as Other Income and deducted £ for £ from your UC.

Thank you for your replies Gordon, what can you suggest i do about my contributory ESA can i claim any other benefits? Do i qualify for carers allowance? Do i qualify for any disability premiums?

Providing you are receiving what is now called legacy ESA and not New Style ESA then you may be able to add an Income Related ESA component to your existing ESA(CB).

Use one of the calculators in the link that I posted previously to see whether you are eligible and what for.

You can only claim CA against someone else's award of DLA or PIP not your own.
