Good morning . I have been accepted for ESA. £35.56 a week. I phoned them and questioned why this was. They told me it was because I bring in £700.00 a month. There for I have enough to live on. I have also been told that I don’t get free prescriptions or any other help. Is this correct. ? I do have some savings . But this was from my pension when I got made redundant. If it is based on this then it seems wrong. That money is for when I’m at an older age not at 56. Thank you lorraine
I assume you are currently receiving New Style ESA and that the income you mention is from your pension.
To be entitled to free prescriptions you need to be eligible to an Income Related benefit such as Universal Credit, you can claim this in addition to your ESA but even if you make a claim you will still not be entitled due to your income, however, if you are put in the ESA Support Group or UC LCWRA group then you may.
In the interim, you can purchase a Prescription Prepayment Certificate
