Hi again. My PIP came up for review and I got my forms in last December. Waited ages to hear and well, long story short I was due an assessment at an assessment centre, despite only ever having home assessments and sending in a Dr letter, the day before the lockdown occurred. DWP requested a paper based assessment and the AP refused. I very nearly had my claim closed. It's now been extended by 6 months but the AP have now sent me a telephone based assessment which I am not happy about as I always record it.
I have downloaded the current guide, but I am so nervous and am looking for any relevant advice. How can we be assessed fairly if they can't see us? Part of my issue is medical side effects causing obesity. Despite other conditions affecting my mobility and pain levels, if they don't take on board my size, which they can't see, they can't make valid judgements about my abilities. Sorry for the waffle, I am very nervous.

You can record the assessment, you are legally entitled to record a telephone call providing it is done for your personal use, you do not need to inform the assessor that you are doing this, if you do then they are almost certainly going to refuse to do the assessment if you do not stop the recording.
As to the assessment, we have had mixed reports, most have found it to be a lot better than they expected but the results have not always reflected what was said, that said, my impression is that members have been happier with their telephone assessment than previous face to face ones.

So sorry for not replying earlier.
I have just noticed my consultant has incorrectly put my weight down as 10 stones lighter than I actually am. She got 2 numbers round the wrong way. I can't get anything from the consultant for the assessment on Monday morning.
I am in a right panic now as they will think I have lost a ton of weight since the last assessment and I haven't. All my paperwork talks of obesity. Do not know what to do. Please advise the best way to deal with it. Thank you.

Try not to panic. You can just correct that mistake when you speak to the assessor. I've known other people to do this and the right information has been put down. Hopefully you will get plenty of time to talk. Jot down the bullet points of any points you specifically want to emphasis so you have it when the call is made.

Thank you for all your help.
The assessment wasn't bad but my cousin had died the day before and I was in a bit of a tizzy. We live in a dormer bungalow with 2 bedrooms upstairs and one down. I was trying to find a paper with symptoms on and she asked do we live in a house and I said bungalow. She then asked about if it had an up stairs and I said no but she went straight on to something else and I realised my error but panicked thinking she would think I deliberately lied if I change it. That worried me and I forgot to tell her my symptoms.
Now I think this will ho against me. I don't know if I should write in to DWP about it?
Also, how soon can I ask for a copy of my report please?

You can ring up the DWP office dealing with your claim 48 hours after your assessment and ask for a copy of the report.
You can write to the DWP and say that you made an error and ask it to be attached to your notes, however, I would wait to get the report and see if there are any other issues you need to raise and then you can write to the 'Decision Maker' and correct the mistake.
