First PIP application

Hi
First message on the forum so bear with me. I sent for the PIP application form in January this year and received it at the end of Feb. I had several appointments lined up with new consultants for my gastroenterology and rheumatology issues, in March and April but obviously with Covid-19 the appointments haven't happened.
As I haven't met the consultants yet and gone through how my conditions affect me day to day, I am concerned that they can't support my application as yet. I have to send form back by end of May or application will be closed. If I don't return it, can I reapply in the future when I have the evidence (for example I am being investigated for an autoimmune condition but no diagnosis as yet)? Or if your application is once closed due to not returning the form is that it? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
Check with the PIP Helpline, the phone number is on the letter that accompanied the form, you should have longer to complete the form although this may still not be enough for you to access your Consultants.
You can provide extra evidence after you have returned the form, send it to the same address as the form.
If necessary you can make a new claim, there is no waiting time.

Thank you for your reply. The end of May date is the 3 months extension due to Covid-19 so I don't think I will get any additional time. I received rearranged appointments for end of May/June which were then cancelled a couple of weeks later so, as you say, I doubt I will get to see them in time for this application (my gastroenterology could be up to 3 months wait).
I am a bit more reassured if there is nothing stopping me making a new claim for PIP in 4-6 month's time. It also gives me time to speak to my GP after the consultant appointments. Thanks again.
