Mandatory reconsideration for pip was created by poppet17
I have had a terrible time renewing my pip - It was due to run out in March 2020 after getting it for 6 years - I had my renewal form sent to me at the end of September and returned it to them (they received it on 5th October) - On the 10th October I had a phone call out of the blue to say they wanted to do a robust assessment by phone - they asked me "what would you do if your husband wasn't there" - I just couldn't answer on the spot (my husband is 12 years younger than me so it was not something I had thought about) - when I couldn't answer she said she was going to send me for a face to face to make sure I was getting the right amount - by the beginning of December I still had no appointment - phoned again in January still nothing available - contacted my local MP who arranged an appointment for me on the 4th February, the appointment was canceled 2 hours before I was due to attend, went back to my local MP and another appointment was made for the Friday of that week. I took my daughter with me - the assessor was late starting and rushed through the questions. When I received my decision my care was the same but they cut my mobility from high rate to standard rate (points down from 12 to 10) - I was awarded until 2040 - I asked for a copy of the assessor's report - and out of the 12 observations she had lied on 9 of them and put down her own ideas of how I moved around and shopped. I contacted the DWP to say I wanted to appeal and was greeted with a very surprised "Oh! really!". I sent in a detailed letter outlining all the mistake and the fact that she had lied, I also sent a supporting letter from my GP and Optician which they received on 5th April - I have still not had a decision and fear that they will not change the decision and I will have to go to appeal - at the moment I can keep my car but if the MR does not go in my favour I will have to send it back and I will be housebound and unable to get to my appeal. How long is it taking at the moment for them to decide on a MR.

Hi Poppet17
I'm sorry that you're in this position. I'm afraid I can't off you much comfort here. The fact is in the current climate timings are all over the place. Someone on the forum mentioned that they had been told MRs could take up to fifteen weeks, but I have no confirmation of this. If you can bear it, I would phone for an update on your case.

Hi I sent my MR in to DWP in December, I still havent heard from them. I spoke to them on January 23rd and they got it in office on 5th January put hadn't put it on the system. She put it on whilst I was on the phone. I am a DLA to PIP person and have been on DLA for 27years for life, and also have a car but was awarded 10 out of 12 on home PIP assessment. My higher rate dla has stopped in December but I have kept the car not knowing this pandemic was going to hit so los the chance to buy the car or give it back for £2000. Like you I am lost without my car and I am the only one in my household that drives. I have contacted my MP about my reconsideration who is going to contact DWP.

Give them a call to prompt them. My MR was sent in Feb 7th 2020. I called 7th May then again today. It was decided on 7th June. But unfortunately didn't go my way. So off to appeal I go. Can't understand why I'm having to appeal though. Good luck both of you. X

I am sorry to hear that it did not go your way - did they give a reason? Where you awarded anything in the first place?
