Work capability reassessment was created by Pj
I was just coming up for reassessment when it was all cancelled because of covid . Any ideas on what is happening now?
If they are phone assessments , can use refuse as I am not good on the phone. Thank you

Hi Pj
I can't tell you what is happening with your reassessment. The only way you can find out is to ring and ask - and obviously you've said you have difficulty on the phone. Be warned - if you get offered a phone assessment - you can't just refuse. You would have to have the back up from your GP or other medical professional and get a letter to send in saying that you need a paper-based assessment (though even then it is not a guarantee)

Thank you.
Last time I had my assessment recorded, I suppose with a telephone assessment there is no way this can be done?

You are legally entitled to record a phone call without notifying the other party as long as it is done for personal use.
As to doing it, if it is on a mobile phone then I believe that there are apps that will do it, if on a landline, if it has a hands-free option then you can record on a mobile or indeed other recording device, if not then you will need a special microphone that connects to the earpiece.

Hi thank you for the advice. If I informed them that I was recording the conversation , would it have an impact on the outcome ? This is from the point of view that they would be more careful about what they write. Or is it best not to mention that I am doing this.?

If you tell them then by far and away the most likely outcome will be that they will tell you not to do it and if you continue, terminate the assessment.
From what I have seen on the forum over the last ten years, recording an assessment make little of no difference to what is written in the report, good assessors will still do a good job and bad ones will still do a poor one.
