I am new to applying for benefits. I was awarded Pip enhanced daily living from Aug 2019 after going to a manadatory reconsideration (thanks to the guides on here that helped me get the decision overturned). My husband is a self employed taxi driver. Works 30 hrs per week. I was advised that as i was unable to work due to illness- mainly depression, fibromyalgia, eating disorder i should apply for ESA. New style as i wouldnt neet requirements for income related.
I have put my claim in onlne and had a letter to say i am in the assessment phase and to complete capability for work form. However im just confused.. am i to inform them i have a partner as i was also told the rate is different if you libe as a couple.
My husband has a wtc credit claim.
Im just not sure whether he should be on the esa claim or not. I don't want them to think i havent informed them that i have a husband...
New Style ESA is claimed in your name only, if you want your husband to be considered then you would have to claim Universal Credit which you can do as well your ESA, however, I would check first whether you are actually able to make a claim as your ESA and your husband's income will be deducted from any UC that you might receive.
