The extension should be for six months. They should confirm it in writing.

Thank you Gordon for your reply
Does the extension start from the end date of my current award?
Finally when i did eventually manage to get through the lady i spoke to had my head spinning with dates then saying that they may get to you before hand.
She also said that the DWP are assessing the papers , does this mean they are looked at by DWP like the old way of DLA?
Thank you for your time Gorden

Yes, it extends the End Date so if it originally finished on 30 June 2020 then it will be extended to 30 December 2020.
The DWP can make a Decision without referring your form to the Assessment Provider or the AP can carry out a Paper Based Review but in either case, it is not like DLA as the DWP has no in-house medical expertise as they did for DLA.

Well an update on my journey
I have now received a letter from PiP confirming that my benefit has been extended until January 17th 2021.
It also said that if my review form has already been sent back to them then i will be dealt with by telephone assessment (or paper based) and that it may be looked at before the 17th Jan however payments will be kept in place until .
Now i wait again
Absolutely dreading it i am making myself sick, i am not good on the phone at the best of times.
I hope it is sorted sooner rather than later.
My Blue Badge runs out at the end of July , i have contacted them and they have told me the best thing to do is to make a new application, that is okay but if i do not have the PIP letter showing my points how are they supposed to issue me with my badge?
This is a right situation
Lets see how long it takes to receive a decision forms have been back with PIP since February.
