Challeging lenght of pip award. was created by boris1
Hi I have had a telephone consultation with a C.A.B advisor today and she told me I cannot challenge my length of pip ward and she said that all claimants had to be reviewed again after two years.
Please can someone advise me about this.
thank you.

I'm tempted to say, get a new advisor :(

Anyway, the length of the award is part of the Decision and can be challenged at MR and appeal, success rates are not high but we do have members who have been able to get their awards extended.

PIP awards can be anywhere from nine months to more than ten years.

I'm afraid not, it is too specific to the individual.

The length of the award is supposed to be a reflection of the likelihood of the claimant's limitations changing, that is getting better but also worsening, so this is a factor you need to consider before you pursue the matter.

Of course, if you have Enhanced for both and conditions that can only deteriorate then it should be easy for you to decide what to do but if you have a lower award and conditions that can improve as well as worsen, even if yours won't then you might want to be more circumspect.

Also, you need to consider whether you want to go to appeal as it may well require this.

As to making your case, one of the things to include is information from reputable sites where they discuss how your conditions will change over time, include links to the pages so that the information can be verified.

It will also, help if you can get comment from your GP or Consultants as they will have specific knowledge of your health.
