Carers allowance stopped was created by Trixi
Hi my PIP entitlement is up this week, I have not yet received any result from my review due to the current situation, its obviously in a back log, however, my carer has been advised that payment has now been stopped. Can you advise if carers allowance should still be paid as care is still required? Thank you in advance

First, you need to contact the DWP office dealing with your PIP, your award should have been extended by six months to allow for a Decision to be made on your current assessment.

Once you have confirmed this has happened then your carer needs to contact the Carers Unit to tell them about your extended award so that they CA can continue to be paid.

Hi Gordon, while I would definitely recommend phoning DWP to check, exactly the same happened to me re carers and the PIP call handler told me it is happening to everyone who is currently in the “holding” pile!
Those who submitted their PIP review forms before lockdown, that were then loaded on the system are in “holding” and due to a technical reason they cannot extend for 6 months until the actual day the award expires or possibly the day before. On that date they are extending the date for 6 months and this should automatically update the carers system too. The lady who explained it to me was one of the most knowledgeable call handlers I had spoken to, however I am going to phone again on the day my award expires, just to double check. Apparently there are thousands of us in “holding” and I am noticing more and more people on here asking about the letters from the carers dept. Apparently they are standard automated letters and they can’t stop them going out and she was most apologetic . She did say if for any reason the carers was delayed (which it shouldn’t be) it would be backdated
