If you put in a claim for PIP and you also receive carers allowance - the question the DWP is always interested in is whether you are able to fulfill the carer's duties. This is likely to come up in a PIP assessment. (It doesn't matter who you provide care for).
There are people who have both PIP and carers allowance and there are people who have lost their carers allowance, because of their PIP awards. It is something that is judged on an individual basis.
