Forced on to universal credit was created by Stewart Hatfield
Hi all
I've not done benifits since 1989 when l broke my back at work in 2 places...where on disability for 9 year and was awarded 20% for life...Industrial Injuries
Had an operation in 2000 where l had 2 discs removed
2 years rehabilitated...
2002 went back to work but was self-employed...upto
2020
Covid 19 came lost my work..lve made a claim for universal credit and due to my income from other sources...had £540.00 taken off me..
Told them lm disabled due to a back problem...was told l need to have a work capability assessment
Not sure if l should go ahead..because the assessment
are rigged to fail you..
Was told they could take my lndustrial injuries award off me...is this right..????
Thanks stewsrt

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
Have you provided a Fit Note? If not then you need to do so as quickly as you can and if possible have your GP backdate it to when you made your claim for UC.
Have you received a UC50 yet?
The system is not rigged against you but you will need to meet very specific criteria, see our UC/ESA Claim guide.
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa1
UC is a means tested benefit which means that any income you have can be deducted from your payments, I'm afraid IIDB is one of those incomes.
If you have further questions then please return to the forum and we will do our best to help.
