Universal Credit Question was created by Ryan
I dont know if I am allowed to post about U/C here,
I am caring for my sick mother and recognised by U/C as her carer
But my question is can I do any form of Permitted Paid work

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Ryan
Universal Credit does not provide for 'permitted work'. If you are working , you can continue to claim universal credit as long as your earnings, and any other income you have, are less than a certain amount, calculated using the 'maximum amount' that applied in your case.
There is a guide to Permitted Work in our ESA/UC section, it is only 7 pages long but will answer most of the questions you may have. It is the second item down in blue writing when you click on the link.

Thanks Gary, I am still completely baffled by it, it seems to cover working if you are sick or disabled but not if you are a carer.

Your confusion may stem from your assuming that Permitted Work was applicable to you, if you are only claiming UC as a carer then it isn't and would not be even if you were claiming an appropriate legacy benefit.
So, providing it is clear that you are still able to provide a minimum of 35 hours of care a week you can work as much as you want.
