okay thanks ,i dialed the number on the website and got to speak to someone
tip i ignored all the prompts to make a selection and went onto a please wait list ,got answered in 24 minutes of waiting
explained and was told they dont always put ni numbers on letter ,but did check via my ni number and said i had no appointments showing ,
i gave them the name of the compliance officer on the letter and after a while they came back and confirmed he did work at my local jobcentre and it was probably genuine and i must take the call ,i asked if i should ask him for my ni number for proof he was from the dwp and they said no i would have to tell him my number to confirm who i was ,
anyway i still dont know if its genuine or if someone just knows the name of a jobcenter employee or what the call is about i suppose ill just have to wait and see ,
only thing i can think of is that my wife started caring for my 97 year old aunt 10 and a half hours a week just over a year ago ,unless im missing something as far as i know that doesn't exceed the 16 hours shes allowed to work without change to my payments

Hi bonniedog
You have done everything you can to check that this is a genuine letter. I would make the call. As Catherine said they do not ask for pin numbers or passwords. Make the call and see what they say. If you're able to have your phone on loudspeaker record the call. (Don't say you are recording it). If you feel the call is not genuine, then you can stop it and then contact the DWP explaining what you did.

Hi bonniedog.
This maybe the reason you may have been contacted to provide your details, don't be to alarmed by it as you've done nothing wrong. Good luck.
How the DWP measures fraud and error
The DWP takes a sample of benefit claims from its administrative systems - they sampled around 16,000 in 2019 to 2020, the equivalent of 0.1 per cent of benefit claimants.
Official guidance on GOV.UK website states: “DWP’s Performance Measurement team look at the data we hold on the systems and then contact claimants to arrange a review. We either visit claimants or phone them. Why does the DWP measure fraud and error?
The DWP states that it measures fraud and error to understand the levels, trends and reasons behind it.
Official guidance added: “This understanding supports decision making on what actions DWP can take to reduce the level of fraud and error in the benefit system.”
The National Audit Office takes account of the amount of fraud and error when they audit DWP’s accounts each year.

JUST TO PUT A FOOTNOTE TO THIS
MY SON WENT THROUGH MY OLD EMAILS AND FOUND A WORK COACH THAT HAD BEEN HELPFUL AND KIND TOWARDS ME and had offered to help in future if required
so he emailed her and she said it was a genuine appointment but he was right to inquire and she got the call brought forward to today after hearing how the stress of it was affecting me ,so again thanks for all the help and understanding and god bless you all for the work you do on our behalf
