Pip assessment was created by Mazza50
Hi there,I’m just asking if anyone out there has any advice please.Im really at the end of my tether,I feel as if I’m being mentally tortured by this government.I have borderline personality disorder, depression, rheumatoid arthritis and osteo arthritis,I’m also diabetic.Because of my mental illness I really cannot cope with stress, and I’ve attempted suicide more times than I can count.I received a pip reassessment form six weeks ago,and duly filled it in,enclosing tons of evidence from my psychiatrist,my rheumatoid consultant testimony from friends and family as to how my illness affects me.There was absolutely pages of evidence,I gave them everything I had,I got access to my medical records off my gap and printed them all out.Anyway,I called pip today and was told I have to have an assessment.Im absolutely devastated, what more to they need from me?I really don’t think I can be strong enough to go through with another assessment, especially a telephone one.Im sorry for the rant but I just feel as if people like me are being hounded to our deaths.Vi just feel this is the only option now

Hi Mazzo50
I'm sorry that you find yourself in this position. Do you have any input from the local mental health team? I'm thinking you probably don't as you did mention it. If you do, you should see if they can help you. If you don't most have a crisis team. Don't let this push you over the edge. There are also the samaritans. (116 123)
I know you sent in lots of evidence, but did you actually ask to have a paper-based review? If you didn't then you can still ask. They normally require a letter from a medical professional that says to have a telephone assessment will cause you "overwhelming psychological distress." I don't know whether your GP or psychiatrist would be willing to provide such a letter. Only a small percentage of claimants are granted paper-based assessments and people normally have to fight for them.
Another option is to ring again and ask for a call back from a senior manager to explain why you have to have an assessment. I'm not saying you can get it overturned, but it might help.
Some members of the forum have contacted their MPs. Some are helpful and have got decisions overturned - some less so.
If they still insist you have an assessment you can make the request for someone else to be on the call with you.
