Took ill on phone during PIP review. was created by Judy
Yesterday halfway through my PIP review, I became very unwell and became distressed, the reviewer understood completely and they stopped the interview, as I had to rush off and hang up. They said that not to worry they would stop the recording! And then carry on at a later date. I didn't know it was being recorded. Has this happened to anyone else? If so how soon do they get back to you?

Hi Judy
I'm sorry you were unwell and unable to continue your assessment. As soon as you feel a little better, if you are able to (or someone is able to ring on your behalf), you should contact the assessment services and find out when you can expect the new assessment to take place. You don't want the added stress of it hanging over you and wondering what is happening.

Yes, thank you. I honestly think the stress caused me to take ill, so I really wasn't wanting this to happen, because like you say, I'm having to go through it all again. Thank you for the advice I shall do that.

Hi Judy and I hope you are feeling somewhat better. If phone assessments cause you "Overwhelming Psychological Distress" [OPD] which it appears they do, if your GP will cooperate enough to write a letter to say so, you can submit this as evidence to back asking to have a paper based assessment, if you would prefer it. Given what happened it would be a reasonable request; I hope the assessor recorded fairly what happened to you.
NB I emphasized OPD as it is a DWP standard phrase, which should appear in a letter for best chance of getting paper-based granted.
best wishes, Denby
