PIP rejected in 2016 was created by Pauline
I have a new PIP form to fill out, but was wondering if I can claim back to 2016?
Can someone help me with advise please. In 2016 I applied for PIP someone filled from citizens advise filled in the form for me as I was unable to do it myself. I have PTSD. Trauma that was caused in 2014. My claim was rejected. I suffered from chronic carbon monoxide poisoning in 2014. I did not know in 2016 about my brain injury until 2020 I was diagnosed with brain injury and multiple neurological symptoms.
Can I ask PIP to look at my case again because they rejected it regardless of my suffering from PTSD? How do I go about asking them to look at my previous claim going back to 2016? I am not very good at explaining myself due to brain injury. I hope someone can help me.
Many thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Pauline,
I apologise that I am giving bad news. Unfortunately you will not be able to get your case reopened. There is a right of appeal that goes from 13 months from the decision date. Given that your decision was back in 2016, this has long since expired.
The only thing I can suggest is that you reapply for PIP. Have a look a the members guides if you haven't done so already. There is a lot of useful information, which I am sure will help you.

I hope that you will be able to make a more successful claim.

Thank you for your reply. Due to my brain injury it takes me a while to get around in here. I will check the link you sent me.
Kind regards
