Replied by Johninpain on topic difference between new claim pip form and renew f
Sorry to jump in in your thread but I have a simple question about the review form .
It states Do Not send any proof we already have
Well that's my problem due to the fact that I haven't left the house for the best part of 18 months and the only place I did used to go was medical appointments which are now all online so I don't have any new evidence it's hard enough trying to talk to anyone except the stuck up drs receptionist due to all the Corona panic ? So when you say send evidence should I send the older stuff they have ? Or would that just tick them off? I mean most of us I'll but not immediately at death's door are being pushed to the back burner with appointments and such I don't mind as there need is greater than mine but it's not like I haven't seen a Dr because I am now fit and well ?it's because they aren't there to see unless it's an emergency ( death's door) kind of thing

Hi Johninpain

You raise a good point which has been asked before. The consensus is that you send in what every supporting documents you have to support your claim and explain why you have been unable to get newer supporting documents.

Hi Catherine,
(if you can produce a letter from your GP saying that a face to face or telephone assessment will cause you 'overwhelming psychological distress' you significantly increase your chances of being giving a paper assessment.)

Just got my GP support letter for PIP review.

GP never used the words ....'overwhelming psychological distress' but !
used words to that effect.

ie attending an assessment centre would be a significant stressor, which would worsen MrFibro's social anxiety and depression.

A lot of GP's will not use the words, OPD in support of say PIP they feel your trying to tell them what to say or do.

So i just said to my GP Please can you use OPD in your support letter, or of words to that affect.

hence the attending an assessment centre would be a significant stressor, which would worsen MrFibro's social anxiety and depression.

In my book and many other GP's the above sentence equates to OPD. Its now just convincing the DWP's DM or Capita.

Im hoping that should or will suffice.

regards, good luck to all.

Hi Ryan

A Paper Based Review (PBR) can be done instead of a telephone assessment.

There are two sets of requirements.

First, there needs to be sufficient evidence of how you meet the PIP Descriptors for an assessment report to be produced without you being contacted, things that will make it more difficult for you to receive a PBR are a variable condition or if you are unable to show a clear link between you limitations and the Descriptors.

You may be able to remedy this with additional evidence and/or testimony but there is no guarantee that this will be sufficient, ultimately the decision will lie with the assessor.

Secondly, you may be able to require a PBR if you can show that a telephone assessment will result in your suffering Overwhelming Psychological Distress but you will need medical evidence to support this.

Would your GP support you and give you a letter stating that a telephone assessment would cause you "overwhelming psychological distress," (OPD) because of your condition? If they can - you could attach that to the form and ask for a paper-based assessment. The DWP don't always take notice of such letters, but it may be worth a try. Your Dr will need to use the term OPD.
