As I have been on strong painkillers in the past and come off them all now because of side effects. I have also decided to put up with the pain as the painkillers were not effective anyway. Fibromyalgia muscular pain. Is this a good way of explaining why I do not take medications now.

Yes it is a good way of explaining why you do not take medication now.

I would explain that you were on strong painkillers but due to adverse side effects you were taken off them. I would explain what the side effects you suffered from were, you may want to look up on Google for the technical names for some of the side effects.
