New PIP criterion. was created by Fido
It may be too soon to ask but I have a few queries regarding the new Liz Kendall changes to PIP.
I am a pensioner in my 70s and I have been disabled for over 20 years.
Since I am a pensioner in my 70s my going back to work is not an option. - ( Not that I ever wanted to stop work when I became disabled).
I previously had DLA for life and I presently have an indefinite award for PIP. - (Higher Rate for Mobility and standard rate for care. - 9 points in total for care. (i.e. 3 x 2 points and 1 x 3 points).
The new rules seem to require 4 points for one category which I probably qualify for but like everyone its a worry.
I know that new claimants will be affected and others may be affected when due for a periodic review but I have an indefinite award. - Will I be affected by these changes ?
To get the assessment originally I needed the medical documentation, plus numerous assessments but since I am on light touch in the Support Group; at preset the DWP just send me a letter every 10 years after a desk review.
The question is: will I be affected by the Liz Kendall changes to PIP ?
Will reviews be restarted for me ?
Since I presently do not have 4 points, (in one category), will my care component just be stopped without consulting me, will I be sent more forms and will need to complete forms or will I just be left as I am with indefinite awards for both mobility and for care ?

Hi Fido
These proposals are yet to be confirmed. They did not mention people who had passed State Pension Age. Yes, there is the new proposed change if you do not have 4 points - but we do not know whether that is going to apply to everyone. I'm afraid it is wait and see. I personally think you will still be subject to a light touch review every 10 years.

What happens to people on dla indefinitely? Still waiting to change over to pip. Do they get the same rights because they don’t wanna change from DLA and they have to or are they thrown under the bus and have to get a four points? Please? Can someone answer this question? Thank you.

Hi Peachy
I'm afraid we can't answer your question yet, because it's not clear. Please keep an eye on the newsletter. Steve will report on any changes that are announced.
