ESA and Universal Credit Migration

ESA and Universal Credit Migration was created by Boots281
I have recently had to Mandatory Migrate from Income based ESA & Housing Benefit to Universal Credit.
I am also on PIP Enhanced for both Daily Living and Mobility and was in the Support Group for ESA.
My Universal Credit went through and my first payment was 25th April 2025.
In this payment I had deductions for an ESA payment, which I thought was an overpayment whilst transferring to Universal Credit.
I thought everything was ok and my Migration to Universal Credit was all done.

Today I received a letter stating they had transferred me to New Style ESA with Universal Credit and I would receive an appointment to attend the Job Centre. (Letter has taken 11 days to get to me)
I am 61 years old, disabled and confused.
I assumed the Mandatory Migration would transfer everything over to Universal Credit.
After being in the Support Group for ESA and receiving PIP Enhanced can they make me attend the Job Centre?

Also, I am claiming the Housing Element in Universal Credit, which was paid 25th April, but as this is paid a month in arrears I am getting letters from the Council asking for immediate payments of 4 weeks rent arrears.
I contacted the Rent Department whilst my Universal Credit claim was being processed and explained the Mandatory Migration and Universal Credit would be making the rent payments and to update my rent account to say this but receiving a letter stating immediate payment of arrears or they will have no option but to pursue further action and my home will be a risk is concerning.

Your advice would be appreciated

Karen

Hi Boots281

This issue with New Style ESA has affected a lot of Forum members. You can send a UC Journal message to thee Work Coach stating that as you are in the ESA Support Group you don't have to attend the Jobcentre and you should be given a telephone interview for the Claimant Commitment.
As for rent you imply that you rent from the Council or a Housing Association. In that case they can communicate directly with UC through their Social Landlord portal. You need to ask them why there are arrears and which UC Housing Costs payment is missing.
