I was wondering what is the ESA deduction from the UC award letter about? The person I am supporting has got his first UC award after migration; but on the bottom section says we are deducting your UC award because you were not entitled to claim ESA. It was an £65 deduction.
I did a search and found a forum user said the same thing, but the amount was around £250 deduction.
Can anyone explained what the deduction is for? The guy I am supporting is upset, as he did exactly as the instructions stated for the UC migration. Is it in relation to the two-week run on during the first assessment period?
You would be best advised to phone the ESA section to make sure but I think it is for New Style ESA. The term is an overlapping Benefit and this causes it to be deducted £ for £ from UC.
