Universal Credit Migration, ESA 2 week "run on".

Hi All,
I completed my ID checks via telephone today 14/5/25, due to Complex Needs. During the call I was told that as I received a fortnights ESA yesterday 13/5/25 my ESA would stop immediately and I would not receive any ESA 2 week "run on".
Clarification would be appreciated as this will help me budget over the next 5 weeks.

Kind Regards.
Rob.

Hi Ultravox

Are they saying that you had an extra 2 weeks ESA then you won't get another 2 weeks in the form of a run on. That seems reasonable . What is your issue with that ?

Hi David, Thank you for your swift response, just that I was under the impression (perhaps wrongly)that ESA would continue for the 2 weeks after I submitted my claim for Universal Credit. No "issue" here at all, just trying to find out where I stand with this so it helps me budget for the next few weeks. I will contact DWP and get them to clarify, so I know where I am with it.
Kindest Regards,
Rob.

That is what I read as well Ultravox. An ESA payment 2 weeks after you make your claim then your first monthly UC 3 weeks after that.

What date did you do the migration?

Hi Philip,
I rang ESA this morning and the 2 week "run on" payment is indeed payable, I will receive two weeks ESA on the 27/5/2025 it's very slightly less than my usual payment, my Housing Benefit will also be paid for a further 2 weeks. Makes the 5 week gap between changing from ESA to Universal Credit a little less daunting!!
