Hi All,

I have had a response from Stephen Timms regarding how the reforms will affect Pensioners. I have done this through my Tory MP so I could be reasonably certain of getting a reply, it took a while, originally sent March 29 and I had to chase several times.

I asked specific questions ie will the 4 point rule apply to pensioners amongst others but he failed to directly answer those points.

This is the relevant part of his response:

In keeping with existing policy, people of State Pension age are not routinely fully reviewed and will not directly be affected by these changes.

For everyone else, none of these changes are happening overnight. In fact, they will not happen until people have an assessment from November 2026, so anyone reaching State Pension age before then will be protected.

I think this is pretty much the same response as when he has been asked similar questions in Parliament and is short on detail to say the least.

Hi Gaddy

The Tories stopped a pensioner with a younger than state age partner from claiming Pension Credit and obliged them to claim UC. So any reduction in the disability elements of UC is going to hit a pensioner with a younger partner.
