Can migration be cancelled? was created by peterrsk
Hi all. I'm the carer for a disabled lady with severe MH issues/complex needs. She receives ESA and Severe Disability Premium (and PIP). She is within 10 months of state pension age and has just received a letter telling her to make a claim for Universal Credit. Does anyone know whether DWP may be willing to cancel this transition given the circumstances, and allow her to remain on the legacy benefits for the remaining 10 months? If not, and given her extremely limited capacity, how is she expected to navigate the process? I would be grateful for any suggestions? Many thanks

Hi peterrsk

No I don't think they will cancel it. At present that occurs in terminal illness cases.
You can ask for a Home Visit from the DWP to collate the information needed.

Hi peterrsk, I am 6 months from reaching state pension age and will be applying for it at the start of September- I am still expecting a migration notice though I do not understand the logic, just pointless. I wonder if approaching the MP of the lady you care for might be worth a go - I intend to do the same when the migration notice arrives.. Gaddy
