Over payment of UC - can my house be repossessed?

i have been living in my ex hubands’s flat with himself and two adult children. I have severe and enduring mental health issues. In 2019 my daughter helped me fill in a UC form and I put this London address as my home address as I had already been living here some time. I didn’t think anything of it. I have a house in Lancashire but it has been empty mostly since about 2013. Mental health services said I didn’t qualify for housing as I already had a house but it honestly didn’t cross my mind that I had made an inaccurate or invalid claim until I was receiving accommodation advice from CAB through Mind and the CAB man said that my house was an asset. Now I have been getting very stressed as the penny drops thinking that I have been paid 6 years UC at the wrong address. Obviously I will have to tell the DWP but this is a significant amount. Will the DWP want to reposes my home? Where do I go from here?

Hi Mary

As stated in your previous post www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/kunena/10-dla-...e-repossessed#306854 your question is outside the remit of the forum.

I have not known DWP to reposes homes, but you will be hit with an overpayment and they may charge you with fraud, so you do need to seek specialist advice where they can take all your circumstances into consideration.
