ESA income related to UC Contributory was created by Dottie@76
Dear All,

My sister has severe mental health issues and in March she was asked to migrate from ESA income related support group to Universal Credit. When she had the appointment at the job centre she was informed that her financial situation would not change.

However, after being processed, she finds that she has been moved to Universal credit covering her rent and the standard allowance, but has also been moved to new style ESA contributory, my question is why?

Her legacy benefit of a 2015 ESA income related Support group should have surely meant that she was transferred to an income related ESA not a contributory one!

Also, my sister is losing out financially by this move which she was told she would not do!

Does this affect her ability to get free prescriptions, for example? (that is a very important question!)

please answer simply so I can understand it, (so, if you quote the law please what it all means) because I have severe physical health problems and I have just been asked to move from my pre 2015 ESA income related support group to Universal credit and I want to understand if I am going to face the same problem.

Warm regards
