PIP review text this morning. was created by AnonymousM
Hi, I am in an absoute state of panic. I have several mental health conditions, and nothing has changed since my last review. I have not been to the doctor's much as I avoid them unless I really need them.

I am worried that I may now have a lack of medical evidence? I used to be able to get access to speak to a psychologist through the Citizens Advice, so was very lucky. They have now stopped doing them.

Should I look into getting a private assessment? Do you think I need to submit more evidence? For the record I have several lifelong conditions such as ADHD and OCD that cause me severe problems. I also have been diagnosed with Adjustment Disorder, PTSD, Anxiety Disorder and Depression, and this is all in my medical history, but will I need more evidence for the review?

I would also like to ask if it's worth asking the DWP for a paper review, using reasonable adjustments, because this causes me some serious stress. I've felt absolutely broken this morning and have been in a state of panic, especially with the recent news about the government trying to cut our money. So overall I don't know what to do and feel broken, and it would help me to come up with a plan of action so that I can get the questions answered and sent off successfully, and get everything I need in place in advance.

Hi AnonymousM

I'm sorry this is sending you into a panic.

We can't tell you whether you need more evidence, because it's completely individual.. Some claimants claim PIP with the form and one piece of additional evidence and are awarded PIP, and others submit forty pages or more and get refused. There is no perfect amount of evidence.

The same applies to private assessments. Only you can decide if you think you need one.

Any claimant is entitled to ask for a paper review. Put the request on your review form - The DWP may agree or not. If they ignore your request and send you a telephone appointment, you can appeal and ask them to do a paper-based assessment. If they still refuse, you can ask them a second time - but after that, you will have to accept whatever they say.
