Migration from ESA to UC was created by tillyboo
Finally did the migration today. Had a charity support worker help me.
What an absolute nightmare. 3 hrs it took, I ended up crying with the confusion of it.
And still not finished as couldnt complete ID Proof, one question was about addresses where I lived & never heard of them & no option to say none.
So both myself & husband have a "biographic" I think its called, telephone call next Weds. Me at 2.15pm & him at 2.50pm.
The support worker rung the Help to Claim line for advice of what would be needed during these calls & she was told the same questions as online. So if we both failed those, then surely we'll fail again. We cant get into a job centre due to our illnesses.
Has anyone had one of these calls & if so what are you asked? There is a list online says birth certs, tenancy agreements etc how do you show those down a phone. Plus we both suffer with brain fog, my husband more so due to cancer.
I've literally collated every piece of paperwork over 3 months & still not done with the migration.
No idea of next payments etc completely in limbo.
In hindsight I wish I had pushed for a home visit, as today as been a nightmare.
Any advice re these calls next Weds would be appreciated as we are both totally confused, stressed & tired.
Thank you

Hi tillyboo
Due to both your conditions, you should have gone for a home visit as the process can be doubting for claimants who are not computer literate.
I will open up your query to members to give you advice on biographical. I have done a quick search on our forum, Juney made a post on the subject matter; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum/10-dla-e...ographical-interview

I had a biographical phone call to verify my ID. The man I spoke to was lovely and really kind. You don’t need any documents, they just ask questions that you will know the answers to but other people wouldn’t.

Had ID calls & both failed. Even though the info given correct, the man on phone said computor rejected it, so failed.
I even rung the DWP to check my answers were correct & they were. So why failed? Now have to wait for a home visit, no idea when.
Also when I rung DWP ESA informed me I'm on IR ESA & CONT ESA & that I'll get new style ESA & UC. I literally have no idea what any of that means & after 3 months of sorting this & the worry shock & stress of my husbands cancer I've given up.
When DWP visit I want a 3rd party present, as I have no idea whats going on, dont understand it & cant take more. I'm done....

Hi tillyboo
You are in receipt of legacy benefits CB ESA and IR ESA as you probably receive disability premiums, (SDP and EDP). There are no disability premiums with UC, I would assume that you were in the support group of ESA.
When you transfer to UC, your CB ESA will move over to NS ESA, your ESA Support should move to UC LCWRA.
UC is paid monthly whereas ESA is paid fortnightly, NS ESA is deducted £ for £ from your UC allowance.
Most claimants I know that go from ESA + (SDP + EDP) to UC are worse off unless they qualify for transitional protection.
