PIP Awarded but completely wrong in several categories was created by Editors24
I was awarded enhanced in both daily living and mobility, which I thought I was likely to get. However, I received my report today and it’s wrong in several places.
For Mobility they’ve said I can only walk up to 20 metres but I can actually walk up to 200 metres even though I’m in a lot of pain and can’t repeat the journey.
They awarded me 0 for planning a journey despite me providing evidence that I can’t make a journey alone because I have severe anxiety and wouldn’t be capable of doing so without breaking down. I assume the assessor did this because I said I had journeyed 2 stops on a train months ago but have never repeated the experience because I had a panic attack.
They awarded me 0 points for mixing with other people because I can speak to my dr, they ignored me having my husband or son with me when I do so.
The award is for 4 years even though the report says my medical notes show the severity of my conditions. I’m 62 so would have expected this to have been a 10 year award, I’m not going to get better I’m going to most likely become more disabled.
Should I put in for a mandatory review right away?

Hi Editors24
I know they haven't scored you in the way you expected, but you have been awarded enhanced for both. If you put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration and you say that you can walk 200 metres you will instantly lose your mobility award. I think the reason why they decided on 20 metres, is because of the severity of your pain which I assume starts from when you set out walking.
I can't tell you why you didn't score for the other things and it's up to you if you want to challenge them, but if they look at your award again, there is a risk your award could be reduced. Many people have reports that they don't agree with, but they don't choose to challenge it. Some people feel strongly that the DWP has made a mistake and they fight it. Mostly the DWP ignore it, but I do know of one person whose reward was subsequently reduced. It's up to you.
Many people have long term conditions which are only going to deteriorate, but in the last few years the number of 10 year awards have been reduced. You could write to them and say that you are satisfied with the award, but you are disappointed in the award length. A couple of members have had success in just challenging the award length and have been given longer.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
What you say makes sense. I’m sure in 4 years my condition won’t have improved and will probably have deteriorated so I’ll try not to worry about it too much.
I’m extremely grateful for all the guidance I got from this site, I doubt I would have gotten my award without all your great advice & support.
