My wife and I are disabled my wife receives income related ESA and housing benefit and PIP,
I receive new style ESA and PIP
We are both in the support group for ESA
My wife as been sent a migration letter to move to UC and because I live with her I have to also apply.
We have both applied and got to the very last stage which was again resubmitting ID confirmation, we both had used our passports and my wife used bank account details, and I used my drivers license, my wife doesn’t drive.
Now you have to put this info in before you can start filling the claim in, so why you have to do it at the end as well is a bit sinister, because when we both uploaded the same details we used at the beginning of the application it came back we had failed the ID verification and we’re going to telephoned on Friday this week,
I questioned this in my UC journal and so did my wife, and they responded they would be asking questions from their data base to prove ID everybody who claims UC have to prove their ID to ensure the correct person is claiming. If you fail the ID questions you will be asked to come to the job centre with your ID.
This is supposed to be a migration they know the correct people are claiming from the migration notice, this for me is not adding up ?

Hi Carlos

This is common practice and is happening to everyone. Some ID checks are happening over the phone, some at the job centre and some are by home visits. I'm afraid it is the system.
