ESA to UC migration. was created by adsellars
I have been told by the DWP the I have to attend an appointment to prove my ID for the migration process. According to the migration guide proving my ID can be done on line but the DWP are saying it has to be face to face. What do I need to say to them to explain that it is not necessary?

Thank you

Andrew

Hi adsellars

Many people have been required to prove their identity either at the job centre or in their own homes. You can try and insist that it can be done over the phone, but if you have already tried to do it online and it didn't go through, you will struggle to get them to agree to do it over the telephone. You can argue that under the Equality Act, they ought to make reasonable adjustments for you and allow you to do it over the phone.

Interestingly, I picked up a missed text from the DWP which was sent to me a few days before I started the online migration process. It said that the DWP wanted to visit me at home to discuss the UC claim/migration. So I know that a home visit for verification purposes is possible. I made a note of this in my journal stating a request for a home visit is a reasonable adjustment.
