New to applying for UC was created by CFS-1
Hello all.
I was recently diagnosed by my doctor as having CFS, and he wrote me a Fit Note. I've struggled for years trying to work (I opened various online businesses to try to keep afloat financially) whilst being exhausted and the aftermath that comes with pushing too hard, but in the end I realised I just don't have the mental or physical stamina to work.
This is the first time I'm having to apply for UC, and was recommend to join and subscribe to this site. I've done a fair bit of reading about the test, and took a practice test (failed miserably), and so I'm absolutely dreading the real process of applying for UC.
I talked to Citizien's Advice who said my local office could help me to apply for it, buy I'm worried they won't be able to understand/help fully to be granted UC.
Stress and worry are plaguing me at the moment because of this.
Any help and advice much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi CFS-1,
Sorry to hear that you've had to give up work.
Universal Credit is not just for people with health problems so the application process is the same for everyone and Citizens Advice will be a great source of help for that. As well as your local office, you can get help from the Help to Claim service to make your initial claim and up to the receipt of your first correct payment www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/unive...ut-universal-credit/
Submitting a fit note with your UC claim will the trigger the health assessment process, which includes completing a UC50 form and potentially a medical assessment - please do have a look at the UC page, where you can access a guide about the health assessment and also determine whether you might qualify for ESA. See www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/universal-credit-uc
Finally, we have a guide specifically for people with CFS or ME who want to claim PIP, which you can access here www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/?dlp=688283f781549
Best wishes
