UC Migration letter just received was created by Joe2027
The proverbial as hit the fan! I received my UC migration letter from old style ESA yesterday. I didn’t get much sleep last night.
I can see that I won’t be able to go five weeks without payment. So do I need to submit my UC claim before I get an interview, so that I can hopefully get an advance UC payment?
I see people have been having problems with ID, I’ve an in date valid passport, but my driving licence is out of date. Is it absolutely necessary to have a valid in date driving licence to prove my ID?
How many people have had their UC migration go smoothly, with no hitches, and the first payment comes through five weeks after they have claimed?
What’s the average amount of time waiting for the first UC payment coming through?
Thanks for any replies.

Hi Joe2027
If you are not able to verify your ID online, they will arrange a home visit. If you're trying to use an out-of-date driving licence - I think it may be refused online. There are other documents that you can use to verify your ID.. It's good that you have a passport because they like one example of a photo id if people have it.
I'll leave members to comment on their experience. Certainly, some people have had a smooth transition. When people haven't had a smooth transition, there can be lots of different reasons for that happening.
There aren't any stats that I know of to know whether people are receiving their first payment within five weeks.

Ok Thanks for the info. There's probably is info about how quickly new claimants of UC get there first payment, but it's not released by the govt.
I suffer from depression and anxiety. I now that other people are worse off medically. It's uncomfortable , I like certainty.
I've watched a walk through on you tube. Do you know after I've pressed the button ,"Submit claim". Is my ESA stopped and I have to wait for the first payment of my UC?

Hi Joe2027
Your ESA claim should stop after you have proved your ID, UC should issue a stop notice but it does not always happen, ESA may still be in payment which creates an overpayment which is recoverable.
Most claimants will receive their UC award after 5 weeks, (assessment period + 7 days), once their ID has been proven and they have signed their claimant commitment.
