When you make any sort of challenge, you need to make it very clear what you are asking for. So if you are happy with the points, but you would like to challenge the length of the award, say so. There is no formal mechanism for them to increase the award, but they do, do it sometimes and one of our members recently managed to increase theirs by an additional two years.
