carers element of u/c was created by reds123
hi mods, i am asking because we qualify if it is best to add carers element to my u/c migration as it would make my transitional protection element less by the £201.68 carer element. and would this be better long term, or would it be favourable to have the larger transitional protection element. i hope you can understand what i am getting at. many thanks reds 123.

Hi reds123

I need more information to see the bigger picture. You want to claim everything prior to Migration that will increase your Legacy Benefits. Also if you make a change during your first UC Assessment Period it is completely disregarded as far as the Transitional Protection is concerned. After that it could lead to erosion.

Hi reds123

When applying for UC, you can only have one LCWRA element, the person who claims the LCWRA element cannot also claim the carer element but their partner can claim the carer element providing they provide care.

We would advise you to seek advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation; advicelocal.uk, they will be able to take all your circumstances into consideration.
