Hi David, from seeing your guidance with Lou's question I'm wondering if you can help me with some advice too!

I'm in receipt of UC, receive standard allowance , child care component and also carer component and waiting to hear the outcome of my LCWRA assessment. I receive PIP and ESA in the support group and I claimed UC following a separation from my husband over a year ago.
I also recently have been awarded council tax reduction.
I have the 3 children living with me in the family home which is a joint mortgage with the hubby. My 20 year old has autism and ADHD and is currently on a supported internship program and on PIP. My 17 and 13 year olds are both in full time education, one college level and other secondary.

I would like to consider studying something at degree level part time to give me a purpose, improve my mental health and feel more worthy, perhaps meet new people and get out of the isolation I feel, however I am concerned about how this will affect any of the benefits I receive as I would need to apply for a student loan.

Can you help with any advice please?

Hi Pindy

Have a look at these 2 websites. The first show comprehensive government rules regarding claiming UC as a student.
The second is just a good example of the support offered by some universities to disabled students. It may be worth checking out what is available from other educational institutions and not just universities.

Let me know how you get on.
David
