Possible assessment following migration from ESA support group to UC was created by Searching65
Hello,
I have recently submitted my online migration application from ESA (support group) to UC.
After my phone interview to verify my ID, I was told this was all they needed and was given the date of my first UC payment - a month from the biographical interview - and that I would remain in the support group. I was also told I would receive the same amount.
I have just checked the home page of the my UC online account and it says that I might need to be assessed and this might affect the money I would get.
I've never applied for PIP bc the initial ESA process was literal hell and I couldn't subject myself to any more stress.
Setting up a phone interview was an absolute nightmare. I'm really scared about what the assessment would entail. I'm very limited with what I can do and attending appointments is simply impossible.
Does anyone have any information on the assessment process, timeframe/adjustments I can request ... ?
I no longer have any support and DWP/JC have been incredibly difficult so far.
Many thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Searching65
As you are already in the Support Group it is highly unlikely that you will be called for a WCA medical over the next 12 months as there is currently a 5 year backlog of WCA reviews reaching back to the start of the Covid pandemic.

I have just seen an entry in my journal saying that I need a fit note as I haven't had a WCA. Can anyone please advise? Thanks

Hi Searching65
Just send a Journal message in reply stating that you are in the Support Group.
Let me know how you get on.

Thank you. I have sent a message but they have been ignoring previous correspondence and information re: separate issue so bracing myself for yet another battle.

Hi David,
Just wanted to let you know that DWP have confirmed I don't need a fit note as I was already in the support group.
This whole process could have been a lot smoother but they've made it as difficult, error-prone, time-consuming and stressful as possible. I have spent hours daily dealing with unnecessary issues. The online application itself was straightforward but everything after that has almost made me want to give up.
It helps massively having this forum and I most certainly appreciate you taking the time to reply to posts.
Have a nice day.
