PIP was created by Melissa
Good morning
I was awarded PIP last August 2024, both lower rate daily living, for bowel issues and several prolapses. I have recently been diagnosed with T2 Diabetes, which is having an increased negative impact on my daily living and mobility. Do I need to contact DWP to update them with my new condition?
It was so scary and intrusive speaking with them previously, I don't know if my allowance may be raised or whether I will have to be put through another assessment. Thank you any advice is much appreciated.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Melissa
Having the new diagnosis won't automatically have any impact on your current PIP award. If you look at where you already scored points - see where you think your new symptoms would change that. If you think there is a reasonable chance of it being raised - you can put in for a Change of Circumstances - in which case it will automatically trigger a reivew. If you think it will make no difference - you can either write to them just to inform them of your new diagnosis or you can wait until your next review. If you found the last review scary and intrusive (which is quite normal) do not trigger one with the change of circumstances unless you are reasonably sure that you will be scored higher.
