With help from both this site and citizen advice my son has finally got his back dated SDP. I’m still in shock about the amount, over £37 thousand pounds! I’m now wondering how this going to affect the benefits he now gets? He’s migrated from ESA to UC. I’m fairly sure that it’ll affect the housing benefits if you have savings. Big thank you from a very stressed out mother still fighting for her 38 year son. I’m so grateful for all the help but still in a state of disbelief. Molly
If Brenda Watson is your real name you need to change this Forum's user name for internet security reasons especially as you are broadcasting to the public receipt of a large sum of money. In the letter from the DWP it should mention how long the lump sum is going to be disregarded. If it is not mentioned I would phone the ESA section and ask for a letter as proof that it is to be disregarded.
