I have today received a P45 from ESA. Says leaving date 3rd February 2026. Total pay to date £6102.88. I have been on ESA many years and am in the support group. Its contribution based from many years ago. I don't qualify for any income related benefits as i have savings over £16k. Why would i receive a P45? Does this mean my ESA is stopping?
I have heard from other ESA claimants that when they have phoned ESA to ask what is going on the telephony agent have said that the P45 is generated automatically in error owing to the ending of Contributions Based ESA on the IT system and its replacement with New Style ESA. ESA over the years has secured a reputation for issuing nonsensical computer generated letters.....actually since 2008. So obviously they are keen not to lose that accolade.
