ESA to JSA without notice was created by tronaldodumpo
Hi

I seem to have been removed from ESA and swapped to JSA without notice.

My upcoming payments in my bank account are

£261.03 DWP Eesa
£20.07 DWP Jsa

Does this mean I've been taken of ESA and put on JSA? Shouldn't there have been an assessment or something first?

Hi tronaldodumpo

No you have not been taken off ESA, for peace of mind contact ESA and ask why you have a payment of £20.07 DWP JSA.

This question has come up a few times in the past on the forum.

Is there any way to contact esa by email? I can't do phone calls due to my Autism and am awaiting being assigned a new support worker.

Hi tronaldodumpo

I'm afraid there isn't an email address you can use.

This is extremely unfair, it should be available as a legally required 'reasonable adjustment' My autistic relative though 'high functioning' cannot do phone calls, I have to do all of them, at best they will tell the person on the other end to speak to me.
If you have the energy, complain!!!

You’re absolutely right to raise this. Under the Equality Act 2010, anyone with a disability that affects communication has the right to ask for a reasonable adjustment to the way DWP contacts them.

A reasonable adjustment can include avoiding phone calls, using written communication instead, or allowing someone else to speak on their behalf. The DWP has a legal duty to consider these requests properly and not dismiss them.

If you have the energy, it’s worth putting the request in writing and asking for it to be recorded on the claimant’s journal as a reasonable adjustment. That way, if the DWP doesn’t follow it, you have a clear record to rely on in a complaint.
