So, I have just sat down and worked out that under the new t&c's of my PIP Motability Car that I have two choices going forward.
One: Either hand the car back and be housebound at the end of the current lease, or
Two: Put the car in the garage for six months and continue to hand over my enhanced pip payment to Motability for nothing in return.
Is anyone else up in arms about this? Have contacted my MP who is going to put it to the SoS (good luck with that I say). And there is no point in challenging the CEO of Motability as his head is so far down in the sand pit that he will never find his way out.
Disenchanted.

Hi Tuliptrees
I have published your post to see how other people are affected. The thought of handing back your car must be devastating.

Yes, I'm up in arms too. FYI, we have extended our last two "3 year" leases to five years. I had no idea this was possible until tipped off by a very friendly car dealer rep. We'd picked out a car from him for our next lease then the maker stopped importing them. He suggested asking for an extension which was easily granted over the phone, on the [true] grounds we were still in the throes of a long distance home move. Next time [again true] it was my husband's illness...So we'll be considering asking again as the changes only apply to new leases from July 1st. It's financially better anyway as your down payment is lasting longer. Shhh...!

It’s just mad, especially if you live in the countryside and/or have long trips just for medical appointments or even shopping. I’m just about OK myself on the mileage side of things but it’s very close.
I’m very concerned though with Motability now fitting black boxes and an app to ALL new leases. Apparently internal leaks suggest that in time it will rollout to ALL Motability customers. In various Facebook groups those who have the black boxes fitted to their cars almost all relate it’s a complete nightmare.
So we were the first to have our bank accounts monitored and now it’s looking likely our movements will now be monitored too. Not good. 😟

It’s going to be very difficult for my wife to keep her car as we are very rural 25 miles to the nearest supermarket,170 mile round trip to specialists in Edinburgh,90 miles to local hospital going to have real consequences

Same boat as us. We will do the 10K in approx six months. Didn't know about black boxes either. What is the point of them?
